DV8Fest 2013

Battle Lines

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry

Arrows of Love

Cold in Berlin

The Unkindness of Ravens

Against a backdrop of struggling music venues and increasing challenges to artists to find new ways to engage their audiences, DV8Fest 2013 set out to go back to basics and showcase some great and upcoming talent. What started as a music festival strongly aimed at the alternative scenes this year grew to encompass a wider range of genres, but I could hear the influences of punk, goth and 80s throughout them all. I attended Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at both The Duchess and Fibbers. Presented in this album are my colour DSLR shots — with analogue black and white film to follow. I would like to extend my personal gratitude to Chris Sherrington for organising this unique event and permitting me to document a part of it. And of course the artists! Every band impressed me with their live performances. Judging by the number of new CDs I left with (and a much lighter wallet) there is a strong scene of talent creating original and local music in the UK. Long may it last!
