When Gemma and Nick asked me to photograph their wedding, I explained to them that my approach to covering the event would be to reflect to their personalities. The photographs would be real, full of spontaneity and emotion from the day. For this reason I chose a reportage approach, avoiding posed or arranged photographs wherever possible.
The day before the wedding, Gemma and Nick borrowed two shopping trolleys to push all the flowers they and a friend had laboriously arranged up the hill to the church. Their local friends came out of cafés and shops as they passed, wishing them well.
